Yeah it would be very good for the British If we get Murray taking this belt, hard to believe how many guys we'd have inside the top 5 I think it would be 3 guys Murray, Smith and DeGale absolutely crazy stuff lol.

One thing that impressed me with Murray is that he didn't give up after the GGG fight like Willie Munroe Jr seems to have done, Murray got out there and fought as many fights as he could possible and now again in the same year he's lined himself up with the number 1 guys of the SMW division that's him faced the MW division 1 guy and soon to be the SMW guy too he's been a busy boy.

I've been a huge fan of GGG but just want to see him in testing fights, Murray was never going to be that person as he hadnt the power as Lemiuex hadn't the pedigree, simply just a punchers chance. This is not to Murray's detract, he is a solid boxer with good skill, nothing earth moving but heart, determination, will for instance, that with average to good skills will only get you so far thiugh and doesn't help you on the elite level, fortunately Abraham isn't at that level and this is a competitive fight even though it isn't elite level it can still be a fun spectacle to enjoy.

Monroe was another solid boxer but lack of pop and durability was his biggest let down, also he lacked belief, grit and determination, Murray may not have had the belief versus GGG especially after a round or so but he had more grit than most and an exceptionally high determination to keep going in hope of finding the slightest of openings.

I see nothing to dislike in Murray, unless you're a boxing purest or lover of gun slinging power punchers. Murray can give Smith, DeGale, Jack and Dirrell all they can handle and possibly more, it just remains to be seen what he has left, he hope the GGG fight has not crushed him, it could really have given him that extra bit he can hang in there with the best or completely the other way !

Callum Smith is a top 3 SMW imo. Better than Badou Jack. I wouldn't rate him higher than DeGale, but he's up there for sure.

He would've been fighting a complete bum at short notice anyway, so no great loss to the card. It's actually better for these blue-chip prospects who have already fought a bunch of easy fights, and are graduating to world title level, to just fight solid world or fringe world level opponents. No use in fighting a journeyman now.
