  • Comments Thread For: Martin Murray: Using Retirement Possibility as Motivation

Martin Murray believes there's no chance he'll be short-changed by the judges in Saturday's clash with Arthur Abraham.

Murray (32-2-1-KO15) travels to Germany to take on the WBO super-middleweight champion and although he was denied a world title by a split draw decision there against Felix Sturm four years ago, is adamant there'll be no repeat this time.

Murray told Sky Sports: "I'm not worried about that. Some people thought I beat Sturm, some thought I just got beat and some thought it was a draw. It was one of those. It was a little bit too close to call.

Nice to see Murray's convinced himself he lost to Golovkin because he 'wasn't at his best weight.' As opposed to just being an inferior fighter

he was too big for middleweight, yet i know for a fact he was lifting weights and bulking up, ive seen what he does in the gym, he's bench pressing heavy weights rather than doing the circuit training which you should be doing. Abraham on the other hand looks natural at his weight, murray just looks bloated and his arms look full of water with no definition.

I hope he doesn't try and slug it out with Abraham. In my eyes he beat Sturm and Martinez but was out matched with GGG. He did well to survive late into that fight. Outboxing Abraham is the way to beat him but he is extremely dangerous throughout the latter half of a fight as he hunts for a KO.

        I'm going Murray on points...

I agree with all this. I think he needs to try to do what Froch did with Abraham.

He will basically need to win every round to get a decision in Germany though...

Every time Abraham fights I root for his opponent, his match ups are so lousy and uninspiring it bothers me he holds a belt, yet their are not many better promoters out there, Haymon, Hearn, Arum, Warren all of them seem intent on in house fights and keeping their stars belts out of reach of rival promoters, it is inspiring to see these inter promotional outfit fights take place especially when it is against an opponent deemed as dangerous if not more so than the actual title holder himself.

Murray gave a good account of himself versus Martinez and possibly deservingly so could have taken the win on another night. Murray knows what is required of him in Germany and one hopes the GGG loss hasn't impacted too greatly on his desire to finally become a champion. It will be interesting to see what Murray has to offer at this level within his new weight class.

I'm going for a clear and conclusive Murray win if he doesn't have some form of relapse when Abraham unloads his biggest shot/s on him, it's difficult to know what the GGG loss took from Murray.

If he is crowned champ Saturday it really will be the measure of the mans belief in himself.

Poor Murray... big and strong, lean and mean BUT... no power! Abraham by late KO.
