Forget the month, that was the fight of the ****ing year.
If you felt Vargas-Miura was a good fight, make a Fight of the Month poll. Fight of the Year and best win are two different categories. The point of this thread is best win. Sorry but beating a SFW Japanese fighter other than Uchiyama does not warrant fighter of the month praise, unless boxing was really, really slow that month. With Fury beating Wlad, November was anything but slow. Maybe an uneventful fight, but a clear fighter of the month for Fury. Vargas beating Miura was not even a better win than Abraham beating Murray, it was a fight that many people were confident Abraham was gonna lose.

Canelo had a better performance, but Fury literally shook the entire division up with his performance. Everyone knew the winner of Canelo-Cotto could be the face of the sport for the next few years and most had Canelo as the favorite because of his age and size advantage, but come on, how many people thought the guy who arguably lost to McDermott once and almost gassed himself into a stoppage loss in their rematch would become THE heavyweight champion?

Vargas deserved to at least be included in the poll.
Then you should have nominated him. There was plenty of time to do so.

Fair enough, in regards to myself.

But another poster in this thread did.

Maybe it will be the winner of Klitschko Fury if its a great fight.

I understand your point but Fury's upset is the most notable thing in the sport other than May 2nd. Vargas fight is likely FOTY, but it doesn't have the impact of Fury dealing wlad his 1st loss in almost 12 years.

Yes, he doesn't understand there's a difference between fighter of the month and fight of the month.

Anthony Joshua will be linear champion in a year.

He's a classy guy and will be a proper HW champion like Klitschko was.

He doesn't have that sickening verbal diarrhea like Fury.

Look man I ain't no Fury fan but something about Joshua is really unappealing, he strikes me as a street thug with a good PR team. Rumours keep surfacing here and there about past exploits, nothing to the standard of AB or Aquacknis Chickenson but I think 'classy' is way wide of the mark.

Fury is a strange case, maybe even a classic case. I'll never root for him, yet in some ways I would like him to go on and be a great champ, what does it do for Wlad's legacy if he loses in his maidan defence after having faced Klitschko or as a David Haye esque career. It diminishes the legacy of Wlad, I really do hope Fury has a fruitful career now, he's clearly better than I gave him credit for just maybe Klitschko has in fact faded I suppose maybe he tell tale signs were there after Jennings, I'll admit I'm loath to accept this notion though as I still believe Klitschko may yet win the rematch it all depends which Wladimir Klitschko turns up for the rematch. I do believe he has to go all out 'Rakhim Chakhkiev' on his ass to win though.
