  • Who did Anderson Silva lose to in boxing?

MMA fighter Anderson Silva has a record of 1-1 in boxing. Does anyone know who he lost to and is there footage of it on the web?

I've seen footage of his win but can't find footage of his loss.

The guy's name is Osmar Luiz Teixeira.

I haven't seen footage of the Silva fight, but I have seen Teixeira fight other people.

Too bad Anderson Silva didn't have that massive big punch to him he's more known for me as an all round type of guy elbows, kicks and dominating fighters even when its on the mat.

Silva could have been pretty good If he stuck with boxing from youth all the way but I don't get the feeling Brazilians treat boxing as serious.

That's a great point and I think the same. For them it's Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Judo, then boxing.

Boxing was an afterthought to him. He was already a blackbelt in 3 or 4 martial arts.

But he seemed to have some fascination with it and kept hanging around Freddie Roach and trying to do "slick" boxing moves in the cage. That didn't work out so well for him...

Reminds me of Arlovski. Another guy who started out well rounded and became obsessed with becoming a boxer and started using mostly boxing in MMA, of course started getting KTFO for using apples in an orange contest.

Everyone uses boxing in MMA. Most fights are ended with someone getting knocked down or knocked out with punches.

Weidman ended Silvas reign with a series of punches. The thing is, takedown and submission defences mean, punching is where fights tend to be determined.

The biggest star in UFC is Mcgregor whose main skill and method of disposing of people is with conventional boxing. Sure you have to know all the other stuff to survive.

But more than any other form of fighting, boxing determines more fights in UFC than any other martial art. Extremely important, and Silva was obviously very into boxing, he did not think of it lightly.

Anderson Silva has always held his hands low and moved his head it got nothing to do with Roach. But at the time of the fight he was closing in on 40 years old. There's only so long you can get away with it.

Arlovksi was also known as a stand up fighter his entire career, and he still is! He has won his last Schaub, Silva, Browne and Mir are all really good fighters.
