Why is Oscar ripping Cotto for dropping the WBC title?

The belt thing is overblown. If Martinez had been stripped during his inactivity and Cotto beat him down without picking up a trinket, he'd still have the position of power at the negotiating table. He would've beaten the lineal champion and could carry a PPV on his own. Who else was Canelo going to face for a big check, GGG? Not only would GGG beat Canelo down (something Oscar knows), there's no guarantee the PPV would do better numbers than facing a Cotto (probably not).

Having the belt benefits Canelo more than it does Cotto so I could see why Oscar's upset. But as a fan, who cares? We're getting a great fight on Saturday night and that should be the focus.

Oscar is a crybaby. Those fees Cotto had to pay were too high. Cotto told Oscar he could pay them. I don't see what he is crybabying about. If Canelo wins he is the WBC middleweight champ so what's Oscar's problem.

I read that the sanctioning fee has always been about 3% of their guaranteed purse, so what gives really? Although I can sympathize with the fighters not liking having to pay fees for a title when they already give some of their purse to the suits behind them.

With there being no belt on the line for both fighters, its not a championship fight anymore. All the promo material is false advertising now, an actual crime, all due to Cottos unprofessionalism.
