I'm still trying to figure this one out. Some people are saying he paid the step aside money already, others are saying he didn't.

Another example of how Oscar has no grasp on how to run a promotional company and he's mad because Cotto has a better grasp and he isn't even promoting (hahaha!). Schaefer left Oscar with his pants down. And now everything is riding on Canelo to save GBP

That's what I assumed. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

Either way, I'm not sure what Oscar is ranting about, he's probably misinformed. Canelo still gets the title if he wins the fight.

Doesn't seem like he did. Good for him. We still have a great fight Saturday night and with this move, it's obvious he doesn't plan to continue fighting at MW. Next.

It doesn't, but as a fighter stepping aside, why wouldn't Golovkins team get paid upfront to do so? It all doesn't make sense.

Agree. We still get a great fight and we'll see how it plays out after.

Maybe but I don't see the WBC taking GGG's money first and then asking for their own later. More leverage asking for both at the same time. I don't think Cotto's paid.

Well GGG fans, the Good Lord says Do unto others what you would have them do to you. You ask for a catchweight and say Ward doesn't make financial sense. Now Cotto and Canelo say fighting you doesn't make sense and at least one could give a **** about a belt. The world is round, friends.

Those payments are never made ahead of time, since they are usually linked to a specific fight, so the fighter/promoter will take it out of his purse from the fight to pay it.

Step aside money was for Cotto to defend the WBC belt against someone other then his mando GGG. As it is, Cotto is NOT defending the WBC belt so there is nothing to pay.

Cotto has already had the financial benefit for GGG stepping aside, so he should pay.

Its not about the financial benefit.

Its about defending the WBC belt against someone else. Cotto will not be doing that.
