Comments Thread For: Povetkin's Coach: We're Ready For Deontay Wilder Now!

According to Ivan Kirpa, trainer for Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22KOs), his fighter is ready - right now - to face WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (36-0, 34KOs).

Povetkin was back on November 4th when he stopped Polish giant Mariusz Wach in the twelfth round of their bout in Kazan. Wilder is set to make a voluntary defense on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The opponent could very well be IBF mandatory challenger Czar Glazkov.

Hopefully this fight happens next, If Wilder takes another "Tune up" instead of fighting Povetkin next then i hope he gets his belt taken away.

Povetkin chose a tune up for Wilder first, Wilder decided to stay busy in the mean time. Just look at the quote, "Now we're ready" lol, they're pretty much admitting they weren't ready.

Wilder has fought nothing but cans aside from Stiverne. That can't be said of Povetkin. So your argument is weak at best.

wat they told the wbc is more important that wat they tell a russian reporter..

they told the wbc they will not be ready in january..wilder was granted anothe defense..

how are you ready now but not in january? please dont let this slide ppl...the skin tones can easily make this a racial thing...lets go by the words of povetkin and wait on the fight knowing that povetkin stated he would not be ready in january and has not ask wilder to fight him in january
