  • Mayweather Defends Rousey

Says he never told 50 to post that:

"That's not true at all. I haven't really spoke to anyone about the Ronda Rousey situation, just to set the record straight. I don't have anything against MMA fighters. It's just like boxing; you win some, you lose some. A true champion can take a loss and bounce back," stated retired undefeated former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, who denied reports claiming that he told long-time associate 50 Cent to make fun of Ronda Rousey in the wake of her 2nd round knockout loss to newly-crowned UFC women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm. Shortly after the stunning result of the fight, social media ignited with fans and celebrities alike mocking the fallen champion with numerous internet memes and harsh criticism.

50 Cent, who's known for being quite the internet troll himself, wasted no time in pouncing on the opportunity. On Sunday, the rapper turned entrepreneur took to Instagram to post a picture of the scene from Rocky IV when Rocky Balboa held a dying Apollo Creed in his arms, except in this case, Creed was replaced with the image of Rousey as she laid unconscious after being knocked out. The caption read, "LMAO FLOYD TOLD ME TO POST THIS, he want me to do the dirty work," prompting many to believe that 50 Cent was acting on behalf of Mayweather. Contrary to those assumptions, however, Mayweather informed FightHype.com that he didn't think it was cool at all for anyone to make fun of Rousey's loss.

"I don't think it's cool how everyone is trolling her on social media. Certain things you have to learn. People will love you on Friday and then Sunday morning, it's nothing but negative comments and people making jokes and people making fun about you, which I don't think is cool. I've never been on the other side, so I don't know how it feels. I'm pretty sure she's a very, very strong person, but we still have to take into consideration that she has feelings," Mayweather explained. "Everything happens for a reason. This was already written. Listen, if God says, 'In Floyd's career, I don't want him to lose,' you know what? I wasn't going to lose. That doesn't mean that I haven't took a loss before. I'm not talking about boxing; I'm just talking about life. When you lose a loved one, that's taking a loss. I think that everything is just a learning experience. In due time, she'll be able to bounce back and make some noise again in mixed martial arts."

so much more classier than she deserved.....especially after all that "hows it feel to lose to a woman for once floyd" bull ish she was talking. I cant even lie if i was floyd i woulda simply responded by asking her the same question. "so tell me ronda, how does it feel to lose to a woman for once?...."

Cool potential bridge towards Ronda by Floyd. Maybe get Ronda getting some pointers from the Mayweather's on striking (Jeff was working with Roy Nelson for awhile iirc) & in particular defense. Based on the corner work seems like Ronda might be needing to work with some new mfers anyway.
