  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Catch-Weight is Huge Advantage For Canelo

While this weekend's big bout between Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez is being contested for the WBC middleweight title, at the insistence of Cotto - the defending champion - there is a catch-weight of 155-pounds being instituted for this fight.

Which is just fine according to Oscar De La Hoya, who's company Golden Boy Promotions, handles the 25-year old Mexican.

I will make sure to keep that in mind (though I really don't agree with him) that your guy had a huge advantage if he wins~.

Good job Oscar way to give people ammo to downplay your guys biggest win.

          "Its just water weight".

Too small for Golovkin of course though. Oscar is an airhead.

Why did Canelo as for a higher catchweight? 155 was Cotto's idea.

When did you see him make 154 because this is his 4th fight in a row above 154. And it's not like he's been bringing MW's down to fight at 155. He's been bringing JMW up to fight at 155. I wish one reporter would ask him if Canelo can easily make 154 why has he been fighting at 155?

I've been fairly neutral about this fight so far but every time Oscar opens his mouth it makes me want to root for Cotto.

                "I've seen him do it."

Yes, Oscar, we've all seen him do it. Four fights ago, right?

I Know Your It Is Your Job

But I've heard Canelo's been training since July ever think that might have an effect on his stamina with that much of weight drop? Never mind you put a girl on the cover of Ring magazine who doesn't box and clearly couldn't handle one either as of Saturday. Cotto has stamina issues too, but it hasn't shown lately.

God, why doesn't a [sic] journalist call him on this BS

If Canelo makes 154 easy, why is he fight 155. He hasn't grown into MW my ass.

This ****ing hypocrite bashes Floyd for bringing Canelo down 2 pounds, but look at Canelo trying to bring GGG down.

Is there any doubt in anyone's mind Canelo is a ****ing fraud?

Really, then wake the **** up.
