Full disclosure -- I'm a Cotto fan. He's my favorite boxer of his generation. However, I like the way Canelo carries himself. He respects the sport and he respects his opponents. And I really like the Reynoso's. If this fight ends up being a true passing of the torch (like, for example, Ali v. Holmes...though not quite on that level), I'll have no problem supporting Canelo against future rivals.
I do want to see Cotto beat the odds here, though.Comment

Yea . . . I don't think Canelo should get rid of the Reynoso's, but I do think he should add someone to his team who is more attuned to scientific developments.

they have made it this far but at some point they will need to level the playing field...Last edited by icha; 11-16-2015, 11:13 AM.Comment

Cotto is a 154 fighter in reality. The only reason i sometimes get on his back about fighting GGG is because he has a MW title and i like to see champs fighting champs, that's what sport is about. If he doesn't have that title and if that fight never happens then it's cool with me. Canelo on the other hand i don't believe can make 154 anywhere near as comfortable as Cotto, if at all without being a zombie.
If you're looking as weight difference as a reason not to fighting GGG, i think Cotto has a much more legitimate reason than Canelo. And i consider myself more of a Canelo fan.
But as long as Canelo or Cotto has that MW belt, people have the right to be calling for the GGG fight.
Just like you said, Canelo is definitely closer to a natural MW than Cotto and given that he beats Cotto, he has no legitimate excuse not to face Golovkin next other than the fact that he doesn't want to take the risk. If Canelo wants to prove he is the best, he must fight the best. He has seemed willing to do so up until Golovkin became a force in the MW division given that he had no problem facing Mayweather. The difference in a Mayweather matchup and a fight with Golovkin is you may get outclassed and schooled in pure boxing terms against Mayweather but you may get hurt bad and knocked out against Golovkin.Comment

Fighting Mayweather is the best gig in boxing. You get paid well and you will come out of it with little damage, maybe a knock in confidence which you can get back with a few wins. And basically nobody cares, if you lose to him it's no big deal. Everyone else did.
I will say Canelo has proven he has the will to fight anybody because he didn't need to get in with a guy as tricky as Lara a couple of fights after being schooled by Mayweather, but he asked for it. So that's more reason to be disappointed if he avoids Golovkin, because he has no track record of doing it, quite the opposite. But as you say, being outboxed is one thing, the possibility of being beaten to a pulp is another.Comment

You need to understand about making weight dude.
Highly unlikely unless you are a fighter yourself.
Reynoso explained exactly why they weighed 150 at welter, and 155 at JMW.
Maybe you need to do more research ?
I mean, it is lame and unprofessional imho, I'm certainly not defending it..... but you do understand what "killing yourself" or "draining yourself" to make weight does to your body right?
Chill dude, if Canelo is negatively affected by either weight loss or sudden rehydration, detective Cotto will inform us very soon.
Canelo won't beat Cotto if he is compromised.Comment
