Who? Lemieux lost. Mattyhsse lost. Johnson aint fighting in a main event unless it's against GGG. Canelo is the only one who can headline a main event card. The rest have to be thrown in as B-sides. Perfect example is Sadaam Ali fighting Bradley.

That's why I said 5-10 guys who Golden Boy can sell as the Main Event or the Co Main Event......Examples....
1. Canelo......no explanation needed there
2. Luis Ortiz is fighting Bryan Jennings as the Main Event next month
3. Bernard Hopkins is looking for 1 last retirement fight.....that will be a Main Event
4.David Lemieux will for sure come back. Not sure if he will be a Main Event. But they will probably try to match him up against lets say Tureno Johnson. Maybe the loser of Andy Lee and Billy Jo Saunders. Also Matt Korobov might be a option
5.Sadam Ali will hopefully fight Tim Bradley next that will be a Main Event, and if he doesn't get that fight Ali will fight as a Main or Co Main Event.
6. Lucas Matthysse vs Provo 2......Should I say more??......if not Provo next possibly Herrera or Orzoco
7. I bet the next fight for Antonio Orzoco who just fought Humberto Soto on the Lucas vs Postol undercard will be Mauricio Herrera or Jose Benavidez. Probably a Co Main Event fight
8. Jorge Linares probably the best 135 pound fighter out there hopefully comes back to the states and fights someone. Not sure who
9. If Franciso Vargas beats Miura I'm sure he will be fighting on HBO regularly.
10. Next wave of possible guys under Golden Boy who might get to fight on HBO could be Randy Cabellero (Now that Roman Gonzalez has opened up to the smaller weights fighting on HBO maybe he gets a shot if he gets past Haskins). Last if Vyacheslav Sabranskyy gets past Gonzalez next on HBO LATINO he might be another who gets a shot on HBO.Comment

I'd assume any player in the business would wanna scout the Olympics every Olympics lol. This ain't really news, its common sense. Idk about his strong focus on Americans doe. I think you wanna be open to the world these days.
And I think he's already behind in the class of 2016 US amateur market. Al Haymon/PBC signed the only fighter who qualified for the US Olympic trials but isn't competing in them & instead turned pro earlier this year, Chris Colbert, 3-0 already.Comment

Yeah, I mean this is great and all, but wouldn't you assume that one the major promotional companies in boxing would be paying attention to the Olympics?
Oscars just doing his job, but I don't get how this is news. Would it be news is a NFL team was paying attention to the players in the Rose Bowl?Comment

I agree with #1,2,3&5. The rest are HBO Latino fights. HBO didn't even buy Lemiuex vs N'dam after GYM promised them they wouldn't pursue a lawsuit against HBO for Oscar stealing Lemiuex. HBO's budget is stretched and stretched even more by GGG's poor PPV showing. Unless he fights Cotto/Canelo he'll never have another PPV fight. Would you pay for GGG/Johnson? GGG/Saunders or Lee? GGG/Heiland? They're paying a kings ransom for Ward's fights and Kova/Ward is not a PPV fight no matter how long they try to build the fight. Gonzalez is asking for $2 mil to fight Estrada and Roman contributed nothing to the GGG PPV and can't sell out an arena.
GGG, Ward, Kovalev, Cotto, Canelo are eating that HBO budget. Any halfway decent fight is going to try to be sold as a PPV. Lomachenko has nobody left to fight because Haymon has all his competition, he has to move up but there's still not a PPV fight. I keep telling everybody HBO's last year is 2016. The only PPV they have is Manny's last fight (which will do poorly) GGG vs Cotto/Canelo and they'll make Kovalev/Ward a PPV. What big fights are there for HBO in 2017?Comment

I get what your saying HBO is going to half to pay a kings ransom for there core GGG, Ward, Kovalev, Canelo, and let's throw in Crawford. Pac is going out. To me HBO will probably allow at most do 2-3 pay per views a year. But still there a still plenty of fights that can be made that don't have to be pay per view.I agree with #1,2,3&5. One last thing HBO isn't going anywhere. They are still making more than enough money in the sport. Not to mention they kicked Showtimes A$$$ from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Head to head Showtime has not gotten more views than HBO this entire year.Comment

I agree, there are plenty of fights to be made that doesn't involve PPV but will HBO pay for them? GGG/Lemiuex/Gonzalez had almost the same purse as Bradley/Rios/Loma but HBO wouldn't pay the licensing fee. Loeffler told us the only way the fight could be made is PPV. The problem GBP & TR are running into is there aren't enough HBO dates to go around. Haymon had no choice but to start PBC. He has over 200 fighters he has to put them somewhere. TR had Crawford fight only twice this year because they couldn't get a date and he had no good opponents that would warrant him pushing GGG/Kova/Canelo/Cotto aside.I get what your saying HBO is going to half to pay a kings ransom for there core GGG, Ward, Kovalev, Canelo, and let's throw in Crawford. HBO just signed Jon Stewart. Why didn't they use that money for boxing? They aren't interesed in boxing anymore. Boxing gets 1-2 million viewers tops. Game of Thrones gets 8 million. HBO isn't in the rating business, they're in the subscription business. GOT comes on every week for a cpl of months. Thats a solid subscription base for a couple of months. Boxing is maybe a once a month thing. People aren't subscribing for boxing. Beforehand they only had to compete with Showtime which had the same philosphy as them. PBC isn't beholden to the same limits HBO and Showtime are.Comment
