Comments Thread For: Bryant Perrella: Prayers For France, Prayers For Fadli

No matter what happened in his fight, the last thing Bryant Perrella had to worry about was a long trip home or what awaited him upon arrival.

The same cannot be said for his most recent opponent - Chaquib Fadli, who not only suffered a 1st round knockout loss at the heavy hands of Perrella, but is now a man without a destination following their Spike TV-televised bout Friday evening in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The 34-year old boxer hails from Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dôme, France, roughly four hours south of Paris, but close enough to where the city serves as a major hub for international flights. Original plans called for Fadli to fly home from Gulfport, with stops in Atlanta and Paris.

That has now dramatically changed, given the horrific ********* attacks that have left more than 150 dead and the city on lockdown as the world prays for peace and restoration. Meanwhile, Fadli - who was not told about the events going on at home until after his fight - is now forced to worry about his loved ones from afar while he remains in the Gulf Coast awaiting news of when he can return home.

Needless to say, learning of his opponent's situation didn't exactly leave Perrella in a post-fight celebratory mood.

"I was naturally happy after my win on TV, but after hearing about everything that happened - it's just another fight. My thoughts are with Chaquib right now," Perrella (12-0, 11KOs) told BoxingScene.com. [Click Here To Read More]

not a good fighter, but a nice kid. his opponent had no business being in the ring with him last night. poor guy had to get beat up and then find out that 150 people were killed.

I heard they didn't tell Fadli about the attacks until after the fight. I understand the idea, but what good did it do? He was KO'd like he was supposed to be. They could have told him and recruited somebody else to take the fall.

the fight was friday night US time. they wouldn't have been able to find a replacement.

his team did their best to make sure he got paid wasn't distracted. i think they made the right call. i'm sure he was a mess after they told him.

He's probably pizzed that they didn't tell him win, lose, or draw. I'd want to know if my family was in danger, and I would decide to fight or not. As far as the fight goes, it was filler, fluff, we wouldn't have missed anything.

i can assure you that he would have missed the paycheck. these guys box for money. if you don't fight, you do not get paid. neither does your manager, trainer, etc. you don't get back the money you spent flying there, staying in a hotel, settting up your training camp, etc.

also, if you did the research, you'd find that he lives 4 hours from paris. france is a big, big place. they've got beaches on two coastlines, the alps, one of the biggest cities on the planet, etc. his family was in no danger.

He probably would have fought anyway had he known about the attacks, that's how warriors are. This way, it's like he's not trusted, if he's told he'll do something ******.
