I remember 2 or 3 instances where boxers over-trained and ended losing early in their fights, so rather than being beneficial all the intense preparation could have the opposite effect. I hope is not the case with Alvarez because I believe that the world of boxing deserves a competitive and epic fight specially after the big disappointment caused by Mayweather-Pacquiao since a lot of people expected more action and excitement than what it was really provided on May 2nd 2015.

Yea, I doubt that was hard sparring.

It's only a week away. If they've done the work and are happy with where they're at they will be good to go. Cotto will be similar. They will do some light stuff but most of the work should be done, you dont want a cut or an injury in the week leading up to a fight.

But Reynoso is a pathetic butcher-trainer! Even if Cotto fought carefully selected opponents you can still see that hes much sharper, more explosive and fresher since hes training with Roach.
Canelo with his pathetic butcher-trainer cant match that Team.
Emanuel Steward and Pedro Diaz are just not the right Trainers for Cotto. Just as Roach would not be a good Trainer for Wlad, Ward or Mayweather because ist no good style match-up.
                      Holy sheeeit.

That seems an insane number of rounds to spar.

I don't believe that is heavy sparring, no way.

I know how many rounds Parker does when he is in camp with Klitschko, and I know roughly how many sparring partners Wlad brings in, so I am sure they don't spar 200 hard rounds.

Fk me, he will end up sounding like James Toney.

That likely includes a lot of light buildup/preparation stuff and light rounds with lesser guys working on specific things.
