Comments Thread For: Freddie Roach Explains Why Cotto Will Knock Out Canelo

Canelo Alvarez has never been knocked out in 10 years as a professional prizefighter and has displayed a sturdy chin since surviving some trouble against Jose Cotto in a fight Alvarez eventually won easily 5½ years ago.

Trainer Freddie Roach explained Wednesday why he is convinced that’ll change when Alvarez meets Miguel Cotto, whom Roach predicted will win by knockout in their middleweight showdown Nov. 21 in Las Vegas (HBO Pay-Per-View; $59.99-$69.99).

Man Roach has been saying Manny will knock the last 10 of his opponents out and that didnt happen. Roach should concentrate on training cotto for a 12 rd fight. Stop with all these BS knockout prediction. Thats not what made you famous!

Then again, Roach does have a point about Cotto being the best Canelo has ever face yet besides Floyd but Floyd's style is totally different from Cotto. Im leaning towards Cotto winning but i dont know about a KO though. Canelo does get hit too much and plus Canelo is a slowass fighter. Cotto has more tools but lets see who's more prepare.

I don't see a Knockout from Cotto. A UD... only person that could be KO'd is Cotto by stoppage... still don't really know whos gonna win tho... 50/50 fight IMO

Roach is the last person to claim another fighter is fighting hand picked opponents. And clearly Alvarez has not been fighting hand-picked opponents. He's been fighting the opposite.

Both guys have questionable enough stamina that a stoppage either way would not be surprising.

In case Cotto is able to KO Canelo at 155, I think he may also go for the same KO against Golovkin at 157 (let's say)!...

... is this even a "brainer"?

Has Roach ever in history NOT predicted a KO for a fight he's involved in?

It all seems sorta like he's living vicariously through his own fighters now when you realize he had a worse KO % than Pernell Whitaker.
