Comments Thread For: Liam Smith: Jimmy Kelly Is Just Christmas Wages

Liam Smith believes the first defence of his world title is a straightforward victory.

The Liverpool super welterweight will defend his WBO title against an unexpected challenger on December 19, live on BoxNation.

Smith (21-0-1, 11 KOs) is set to face relatively unproven Jimmy Kelly Jnr (16-0, 7 KOs) at Manchester Arena, despite the Mancunian, 23, never having fought for a British or Commonwealth title, two belts which the champion has already held.

I need to see more of Liam, some people haven't given him much credit. I don't like the Charlo claim some made, about Charlo's superiority (don't ask me which one). Liam better not trip on his **** and underestimate this guy.

Smith is solid and still improving but way below the likes of Andrade. This fight with Kelly makes a mockery of what is only a paper crown anyway.

The fact this pecker is even world champion makes a complete mockery of the WBO. How on earth can you fight sub-par domestic level British fighters and claim to be a world champion is beyond me. The most protected fighter in the world!!! Pecker
