Golata was a real blue chips prospect. He had it all, speed, skill, power, and a great jab. His jab was an incredible weapon early in his career. You could tell this guy was a good fighter when he didn't just overpower Bowe, he outboxed him and then dominated him. His one fault was a weak mind. He seemed to disdain prosperity. He only seemed to do well when the circumstances were unfavorable. Besides blowing the Bowe fights, he was blown out against Lewis and Brewster, quit againt Grant after knocking him down twice, and then quit against Tyson. He really blew his career bad.
i feel sorry for all of you who didn't see the fights live when they happened. legendary nights is a good program. it helps put the whole setting in perspective. damn, talk about the good ol' days.
they should really do more of the legendary series. i recommend leonard/hearns, bowe/holyfield, and leonard/hagler the most out of them all.
I saw it about 2 hours on an HBO channel. Man, I didn't know about this whole fight besides the riot. Wow Golota has to be a complete fool.
Yup. I still remember thinking, "What an idiot," when their first fight was concluding, and the same thing the second time. rofl Would Golota have been in all-time great if he didn't have whatever problem it was that he had? He sure seemed like he had all the tools.
