Joan Guzman vs. Javier Jauregui on DLH-Mayorga undercard

GUZMAN-JAUREGUI ONCE AGAIN ADDED TO MAY 6 "DANGER ZONE" PPV SHOW
        By Jake Donovan

*********.com learned late last night that the junior lightweight bout between Joan Guzman and Javier Jauregui was salvaged and once again added to the May 6 HBO PPV show headlined by Oscar de la Hoya' ring return, versus Ricardo Mayorga.

*********.com reported on Tuesday that the bout was off. No specific reasons were offered, other than legal issues preventing Guzman from appearing on the show. It has since been confirmed that such obstacles have been cleared, allowing Guzman to make his debut under the Golden Boy Promotions banner.

Guzman, presently 24-0 (17KO), was to originally challenge for Scott Harrison's WBO featherweight title. After multiple postponements and rumors of Harrison possibly pulling out of the fight again, Team Guzman decided to remain stateside rather than travel abroad for a fight that was still potentially up in the air.

Jauregui is coming off of two straight wins, having divided his time through the years between the junior lightweight and lightweight limit. The crude Mexican is 51-12-2 (35KO) overall, and 4-1 (1KO) since losing his IBF lightweight title to Julio Diaz two years ago.

The bout represents a series of firsts for Guzman - his debut under the Golden Boy Promotions banner, his first official fight at junior lightweight (having previously engaged in over-the-limit featherweight tune-ups) and first professional fight in Las Vegas. None should factor into the fight itself - Guzman trains with Don House and Roger Mayweather in the Vegas-based Top Rank gym.

The Guzman-Jauregui bout is part of a three (possibly four) fight PPV show on May 6, live from the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will air at 9PM ET/6PM PT, with a suggested purchase rate of $49.95.
