In that article you posted from August, he said Cotto/Canelo could get 2 million, now he's saying 1.5 million. Maybe he reduced it because Ward dropped out since then?

I really do hope it gets high numbers, but the buzz seems flat compared to in the past. As crazy as it sounds, I'm seeing a bigger vibe for Rhonda Rousey's fight in Australia than this one, but that's this week too.

My mistake, both of those actually were pay per view. And those numbers aren't high but they still dwarf what anyone else can draw right now outside of Floyd and Pac.

Also, don't you think there is a little more intrigue and more at stake going into a fight with Cotto then against either Angulo or Lara? The magnitude of the event is much greater.

I don't think 1M is nuts. Its doable. Idk how much they are promoting this, I barely watch TV & never ads, but this is a big fight. I think as we creep up closer to fight time people will realize how fun this fight could be & I think it'll get there. 1.5M is probably the absolute best case situation so idk that Oscar should be that confident in that number. I'd probably range it @ 700k-1.2M buys & if forced to pick a number I'd go 1M.

yeah, he reduced the numbers cuz he is being more realistic after the research done by cable companies...

This fight hasn't been promoted enough to make that kind of numbers! None of them are trash talker nor there's a real rivarly between them..ala Sanchez/Gomez, Camacho/Chavez, Cotto/Margarito 2. So, even that it's a PR vs MX fight, i'll be really surprise if it reach 1m buys...i'll say 700-800k and this is being optimistic...hope I'm wrong cause it seems to be a great fight!!!

Floyd made those type of #s cause he used the rt outlets to promote fights...BET, ESPN, 4 episodes of 24/7 or All Access...talked trash, showed off....etc!!!

No problem. Both cards were so bad, I sometimes forget they were on PPV.

Yeah 100 %. The fight with Cotto is alot bigger and wil do over 500 k I think. Hopefully it will do 1 mil, but not sure it will.

Dont think his fight with Lara or Angulo should have been on PPV.
I also think they should have waited to make the fight for May or Sep next year.
The MayPac fight is not that long ago and people still remember it. So they might be reluctant to buy Cotto vs. Canelo

I don't think this fight will draw over a million... It should, but I expect this to do more around the 600k-900k range,, probably 800k if I had to guess

                    Stacked Card

Not sure if it does 1.5 but I think it clears 1 million.
This is a stacked card. You got 2 other championship fights that are also going to be great.
Wish Andre was going to be on this card.
But that Vargas vs Miura is going to be the best fight I think.
Randy Cabellero vs Haskins. Rios vs Velez.
This is going to be a solid card. Worth buying
