  • Chris Eubank Jr - World Beater or Hype Job?

Just re-watched the BillyJoeSaunders fight where I think he acquitted himself well, then watched the Chudinov fight for the first time where I thought he looked horrible! Jerky movement, loading up on near every punch - it seems his crappy resume has really impacted his progress and growth as a fighter. He's fought bums upon bums upon bums and now when he steps up he looks terrible, in my humble opinion, of course.

What do you think? Does he have what it takes to go the whole way? Or is he a reasonably talented prospect who's been managed wrong?

You're right, he is very jerky and stiff. He doesn't seem to loosen up and vary the power or speed of his punches. If he wants to be world class, he is going to have to learn how to. I think he is talented, not extremely talented, but has the potential to become one of the best in his division.

I'll put it this way. He is not special, but could be something to look forward to.

Right now he's 100% a hype job. We'll see if he has the discipline to become a decent fighter in 3-4 yrs.

He gave BJS a good fight. I don't think a 100% hype job does that.

Idk about him being the best guy in the division ever. But **** man thats something most guys don't do. I think he's capable of being a top 10 guy & a legit title holder. He's an athletic cat, his probably got some epic insider info on tactics & tricks from his dad + he seems to get some skills & drive to achieve in the ring. Just a matter of continuing down that road & improving.

If you study his face in those two fights, the BJS fight he looks mean and nasty, no matter what happens, he keeps his expression steady...

But in the Chudinov fight he looks very uncomfortable throughout, to me looks like he's on the verge of tears, like he didn't have the mental strength to keep up his usual mask. Maybe the loss to BillyJoe left him feeling a little low...

Anyway, I look forward to his fight with Spike O'Sullivan. I fully expect him to win, but it's the fashion in which he does it that counts, can he show he's learned form his last few fights, has he learned to loosen up any?

Seems big at the weight, does his best work at close range. Needs to recognise his limitations, and fight with respect to them.

He has prospect-status, Saunders fight came a little too soon for him.

I think he can be a good world level contender/champ but he needs work and take his time. I don't see the point in rushing him, he's only 26 and the Saunders fight was a massive leap from where he was at before that, and he actually did well in the second half.

His career has seemed a bit of a shambles so far but now we has Booth as a trainer and Hearn promoting him, he might get some stability and go the correct routes.

I'm not sure if he'll be elite or anything like that but i definitely think he could be around the top of his division with the correct guidance and training. He's obviously very gifted as a natural athlete, but his ring skills need work still.

                  A fair assessment.

I haven't seen him fight but world beaters are undefeated at the early point in their career that he is at. Spence for instance has never come close to losing. He has already lost a fight and the guy he lost to was not a monster. He may not be a hype job but he is no world beater either. If he was he would be undefeated.
