  • Comments Thread For: Atlas Eyes Floyd Mayweather as Bradley's Next Fight

Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada - BoxingScene.com caught up with trainer/commentator Teddy Atlas who returned to the ring to lead WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley to a knockout victory over Brandon Rios on Saturday night.

After the fight both Bradley and Atlas were bombarded with questions about who they are going to fight next. Names like Manny Pacquiao, who Bradley is 1-1 against, and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez were thrown around.

Bradley would be nothing more than easy pickings, definitely not worth coming out of retirement for....

World Kid Going Too Be Screwed Again

Sadam Ali is going to end up getting screwed again.

Feel bad for this guy. He has a lot of ability and skill. To me he has a much skill as anyone in the division outside of Money May and Pac.

I know he's mandatory for Bradley. But if a rematch with Pac or matchups with Canelo or Money May are on the board for Bradley there is no way he is going to turn down that big time money to fight a younger, hungrier guy who isn't even remotely as popular and brings way less dollars with him to the table.

If that happens Bradley needs to vacate the title and let Sadam fight someone for a shot at the title. Hopefully Golden Boy looks at for a one of there better up and coming guys and does right by him.

i'd very much like this to happen. i mean he could put more of a fight than that dude Berto. this was actually what i was thinking if ever floyd would fight a black boxer.

Atlas should be campaigning for Pacquiao III. Easier fight to make with TR being both sides promoter. And if Bradley beat Pacquiao I think it'd be a more logical jump to a big Mayweather come out of retirement fight. Atlas should know better than thinking a Rios W could even get him on a retired Floyd's radar.

Randomly I don't think Mayweather comes back anyway. He seems super comfortable & like a whole new mfer in some of the recent stuff I've seen of him. If he does comeback it definitely isn't going to be anyone's next opponent thats for sure.

Finally, somebody associated with Bradley mentioned the fight that he should obviously be looking at. Too late now of course, they should have been screaming for that fight after Pacquiao I..... god knows why it was never even mentioned..... oh right, of course..... damn!

You remember how good Bradley looked against Marquez? Moving in and out, picking his angles of engagement all night. That was probably the best fighter he's ever beaten. But it was against an old man that was encumbered by weight packed on top of his natural light weight frame.

Thinking of all the poor positions I've seen Bradly throwing punches out of in the past makes it virtually impossible to envision him putting up any fight against Floyd. He'll always be a great fighter to watch against guys like Provodnikov and Rios (I'd like to see him fight Lucas Matthysse)
but IMO stepping up in class to fight guys like Mayweather and Canelo is not good for his career. He got away with existing in the conversation with A+ fighters for beating Pacquiao, when he didn't beat Pacquiao, but I probably wouldn't be able to put him on that level.

Still a great fighter to watch though. If he takes a shot at Canelo or Floyd who could fault him for pushing his line? Under the tutelage of Teddy Atlas last night he did look like a better boxer than any service of my memory can render of him previously.

Ali is not on the level of Bradley and doesn't even deserve a title shot kid needs to keep building himself up
