This is a good point that I'll elaborate on. We're so used to equating great defense and elite athleticism with the shoulder roll (specifically Floyd)...As if the only the most athletically gifted boxer can execute it... But this is certainly not the case. Roy Jones Jr was MORE athletic than Floyd and where was his tight shoulder roll defense... His defense was otherworldly reflexes... Loma, Rigo, and Ward are probably the three most naturally gifted athletes in boxing right now and none of them employ a Floyd style shoulder roll defense....
I also noticed that as the fight progresses Loma really starts to shine. He only looks more impressive as the fight wears on. He's never going to fade or get tired... He's like Floyd or Manny in that way. Incredible skill and incredible endurance to match. I even heard him say in one interview that he has yet to go 100%... In fact, I think only Rigo will force him to go 100%...He outpoints Walters for sure... Or maybe Walters will force Loma to unveil some power we haven't seen before.
The Rigo fight absolutely needs to be made before Loma goes to 130... it's THE fight to be made in boxing right now....And it needs to be on the undercard in Manny's next fight or headline on free HBO.
I personally think he will do just fun at over 130. Lots of people like to knock his power but that is simply because he does not sit on his punches. He is still trying to go rounds and show people his skills......The man has 6 fights, it's too early for him to be ending them early, he needs to put in the rounds.
