Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council, says two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10KOs) needed a helping hand and his organization was more than willing to reach out.

In the last two weeks, Rigondeaux was stripped of his super bantamweight championships by both the WBO and the WBA. Both sanctioning bodies claimed the boxer was losing his belt due to inactivity.

It's a shame that he's so good and no one cares.

Glad to see the wbc giving rigo this opportunity after being stripped by the wba and the garbage wbo.

It's nice to see the WBC doing this for Rigo. I don't approve of their corrupt ways but this time they did something good for once.

The WBC is on fire right now:

Trying to force Stevenson vs Kovalev

Trying to force GGG vs Canelo/Cotto

          Now this

          Keep up the good work!

"Rigondeaux is a fantastic boxer, a boxer who earned his respect, and with his sacrifices he was able to reach a position that was privileged. He beat Nonito Donaire dramatically, but then his career froze for unexplained reasons. Our obligation as a sanctioning body is always to support those in need," Sulaiman said.

He been turning down million dollar paydays to fight bums instead, its his own fault.

But he blamed Caribe first and formost he blamed Rigo for being with them but it sounds like he's stuck with them.
