Comments Thread For: Arum on Crawford's Star Power, Ali vs. Vargas in 2016

Wynn Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada - 2014 Fighter of the Year Terence Crawford (27-0, 19KOs) is on the short list to fight Manny Pacquiao in what will likely be his final fight on April 9th, 2016 in Las Vegas.

The Omaha, Nebraska bred fighter has been featured in his hometown in three of his previous four fights and proven to be a very good ticket seller at home. Arum said that because of the way they have built him up at home, a sizable contingent of local fans would probably travel to Sin City to see him face the Filipino star.

Boxing is theater, beginning, middle, end. This is a quick read, ONCE BEATEN Jessie Vargas is now cannon fodder, shark bait.

Ali is supposed to be fighting Bradley for that belt, why does he get the loser of the Bradley/Vargas fight? It seems Bob will let a fight with GB go through only if its one of GB's prized resources vs a guy who can afford a loss (see Bradley vs Canelo option) not vice versa (never a Matthysse vs Pac consideration).

Oscar really hurt himself and his company tying his lot with Arum.

WBO should of enforced Bradley to fight Ali or vacate. Ali has been on ice because he wanted a decision from them. Plus why does Ali need to fight Vargas at all when he is the mandatory for Bradley's belt? Arum already lied when he said HBO wasn't interested in a Ali fight. Oh really that's why Ali's last 2 fights were on HBO. HBO was willing to make Ali vs Vargas until Vargas pulled out because he didn't want to fight in Turning Stone Casino even though that's a 5 hour drive from Brooklyn, hardly Ali's backyard. But HBO was willing to make that the headline for it's Dec card. HBO is invested in Ali and would have no problem with him fighting Bradley. Arum just doesn't want the fight and knows Ali is a tough fight and wants no part of it and is still talking about Vargas for 2016 not Ali. WBO grow some balls and force Bradley to vacate.

The WBO isnt doing anything that the other organizations dont do. At least they didnt make Bradley vs Rios for the Super Championship or Champion Emeritus. IDK why people are crying for Ali and De La Hoya, fighting for an interim belt in this day and age is just as paper thin as the actual paper title. Guys like Robert Guerrero & Jorge Arce managed to make a lot of $ as interim champs and most considered them world champs. From 140lbs-160lbs boxing is super political, if Ali wants a shot at a title he either needs to build his image or hire a good lawyer and wait for a settlement.
