they were upgraded to emeritus, so if he comebacks the wbc can still get money out of it...

So are we looking at a 4 or 8 man tourney? Looks like it's all Haymon, so it would be good for NBC.

At 154 - Jermell, Jackson, J-Rock, and Matirosyn would be great.
At 147 - Khan, Garcia, Porter, and Guerrero would be ok.

If Oscar dela Hoya would've announced his retirement after the Floyd fight then decided to come back a year or 2 later, he would've gotten a title shot in his first fight like what happened against Mayorga, he was coming off a KO loss and a 1.5 year layoff and he still got a title shot. The WBC invented this emeritus status recently for situations like this, this is not the first time it happened, Ray Leonard fought Hagler for the undisputed Middleweight title after a 3 year layoff in his first fight at middleweight, and it was clear that Leonard was retired.

I hope they go through with this tournament thingy, Haymon has all the top rated guys except the winner of Bradley Rios. That would be a very interesting tournament.

He's already the WBA champ, but then again the WBC allows other champs to fight for their interim titles, so yeah why not Thurman?

He's heavily slept on. Out of all the welters, I give him a great shot...because he takes a great shot. And that may be the difference with all of these heavy hitters vying for the throne.

Danny's been in wars, he's changed the momentum in tough fights, he's taken hard solid punches from elite fighters, was unified champ at 140, been underdog more than once and won those fights in very impressive fashion and is still undefeated, that's a lot of experience compared to all the other welters except for Bradley but i don't think Bradley is in the 147 picture much longer since they keep mentioning Canelo, it's gonna a hell of a situation at 147 real soon

Just read the summarised minutes from the WBC Convention. The WBC will approach the top 15 fighters @ 147 & 154, to see if they are available for the tournament.

This is just another ploy by the WBC to get a sanctioning fee for each fight that takes place in the Tournament. It looks like it will take years, for us to end up with the actual Champion.

And we thought the WBC were doing this to get the top guys in ring SMH. The reason for this tournament is that it prevents fighters that are unheard off from fighting for the World Title. How are Khan, Garcia, Porter & Guerrero unheard off?

Belts have become irrelevant and though this may take years in the end we will have a true champion.

IMO the last 2 in the 154 tourney that're still up should take the first 2 spots
