All thanks to Floyd and having the nerve to leave home. America made him rich. Liam Smith, take note. Don't be a Kell and beat stiffs at home for short money. In America, there is so much dinero even the loser can get rich.

I respect Maidana if he doesnt fight ever again. However, he should make his retirement official instead of just being rumors. I am sure the guy is 210 pounds by now, almost impossible for him to go back to WW.

He made some money but he should have return for at least one more after those 2 Mayweather performances. Almost everyone know who Maidana is after the Floyd fights, that was easy guaranteed good money for at least one more. I think its too late for him now considering his weight gain and the steam has disipated a bit.

I wanted to see Maidana vs Khan 2.... just to see Khan getting KTFO.

        Sad story ending

Garcia is certainly a guy who would understand Maidana's situation. As I recall Robert was never a guy who truly loved boxing either... he'd been pushed into the sport by his dad and burned out pretty quickly (though he did win a world title at the peak of his career).

maidana was contemplating retirement in 2012, but instead did the opposite and accomplished more that what you can say about other fighters in such a short amount of time. not to mention the numerous FOTY candidate fights he's had prior to that alexander loss. chino commands a tremendous amount of respect.

His family will be set for life. How much money do you think the average person earns in a lifetime?

Hey, it's the hurt business, and if Chino feels that he's financially set and can retire, more power to him! Enjoy your family & your life, man.

Money aside, just careerwise, if he retires he is retiring with very good wins for a non HOF'er or ATG fighter. Just a normal tough, top 10 contender from 140 and 147 fighter. All 5 of his losses were respectable, grueling decision losses where he gave the opponent all they can handle, except for Alexander, where Maidana was not motivated.

But then add the money he earned in his last 3 fights, and like it has been mentioned already, i'd walk away too. Plus he is relatively young, but is also at that age where a brawler starts showing signs of detoriating. Two warriors have retired, Froch and Maidana. I think with Froch and Maidana leaving the sport there is going to be two big voids to fill as far as really good brawling, powerful, iron chinned fighters that are also top level guys.

Putting myself in Maidana's place, and seeing th names you just mentioned, I would be disinterested. You come off 3 big fights, especially back to back Mayweather fights, that's back to back Mayweather paychecks. You don't want to hear these names like Peterson or Thurman or Porter. That is called going backwards. The names Maidana probably wants to hear are Pacquiao, Cotto, Canelo in PPV fights. I think those are the only 3 offers that would get Maidana off the couch[ and be like, eh okay i'll go and collect that multi million dollar paycheck.
