This guy came out of the gates as strong as you can, and now he is stepping back to fringe contenders. I really like Loma and think he is a great talent, but what is his plan?
Is Loma's career going in reverse?

There should be a maybe option. Salido was a great great start, only his second fight, tough, rugged, experience pro, one of the best around in the division but I think the manner of loss in that fight, where Loma was out hustled and out muscled, put heavy doubts in his team and possibly, in his own mind. The opponents that followed have been nothing more than pampered names or padded records.
Having said that, he might be headed in the right direction, with talks of better fights to come, so I'm sticking with a maybe. -

Clearly his recent title fights opponents haven't been anything to get excited about, but personally I find it kinda hard to **** on a guy with multi title defenses with under 10 fights still. I think in due time he'll be upping his opposition. Gaining some experience here is understanding.
Its sorta relatable to the Wilder situation although for entirely different reasons. Wider was fighting dummies for 6-7 years & than fought 1 guy with a heartbeat & won a title. Loma fought 1 guy with a heartbeat in his only pro fight & than got a title shot basically. Fully understand both of those guys taking some less than exciting title defense fights to gather a lil more experience for their longer term career success in the sport.Comment

I agree that he is obviously still ahead of the game by a lot and has time. It just looks weird to come out fighting Salido and beating the **** out of Gary Russell in his first 3 fights, then proceed to fight 3 deep fringe contenders back to back.
He is there, already lit up one of the top guys in the division. I am not sure what these fringe contender fights really do for him at this stage. Maybe he feels he needs a little more professional mileage before taking on the scary guys. Fair enough, but he definitely seems to have strayed from the path he started out on.Comment

The big problem is that Haymon has all the top FW's. If you look at the top 15 for a second, Walters is moving up to 130, LSC - Haymon, Castellanos is the WBC mandatory, Selby - Haymon, GRJ - Haymon, Cuellar - Haymon, Vetyeka - Haymon, Mares - Haymon, Sonija - literally never heard of him. Eric Hunter ???
Then if you look at the WBO top 15 The no.1 and no.2 guys are with Arum, but they're also prospects that Arum isn't going to feed to Lomachenko.Comment

Yep. When he signed with Bob he had Donaire, Walters, Gradovich, Gonzalez as potential opponets. Donaire got destroyed, Walters grew out of 126, Selby beat Gradovich and the PBC take over left Lomo in an isolated wasteland. The big problem is that Haymon has all the top FW's. Eric Hunter is good, but I've heard his team is in no hurry to fight Lomo.Comment

Lomachenko should never have signed with Arum. He woulds have been better off with K-2 or Golden Boy.Comment
