    Making opponent gunshy.

What were some fights where a fighter made his opponent afraid to throw because of countering?

Mayweather fights have periods where the opponent is gunshy due to fear of counterpunching. Though his power hasn't been enough to make it fully effective.

Pac vs Rios. Pac is not your typical counterpuncher by any means but he did implement enough to shut him down. People expected Brandon to really bring it but he admitted afterward that he stopped throwing because he was getting punished for it frequently.

In Martinez vs Chavez Jr, Jr's output went down a lot because he was missingand getting countered. He finally rallied in the last round but leading up to that he was breaking down.

Calzaghe would work guys over with such volume that their punch output would dwindle tremendously (check out Lacy fight). It's not textbook slick counterpunching, but it is punishing your opponent every time he throws, which discourages them from attacking.

Haye wouldn't throw at Wlad or get near him for fear of getting hit. Not the best example of counterpunching, but the epitome of gunshy.

In many of the old Tyson fights, guys would just stop throwing because of the way he'd slip and counter.

Floyd was gunshy vs a shot pac who came out and countered..

Lowest output his whole career. Missed the most as well.say what you want, But i truely believe floyd thought if I hit this guy too much ill bring the dog out of him .

It was a close competitive fight in which floyd didnt wanna pour gas on a fire.

Any fight with Julian Williams. He counters over your jab better than any active fighter in boxing.
