    Michael Conlan

    Nice amateur pedigree.

    Any good?

News of if he wants to turn pro? (And if so when . .)

He's pretty good. He's fast and has nice reflexes.
I don't think he was the most impressive of his weight class even though he was the Gold Medalist at Worlds.

I was more impressed with Dzmitry Asanau. Asanau showed great footwork, fast hands and great reflexes. His fight against Conlan in the semifinal was as close as you can get. Asanau is 19 years old, so I think he has more potential than Conlan for sure. I'll be rooting for Asanau to get the Gold Medal next year.

Murodjon Akhmadaliev is not as technical as Asanau or Conlan, but he's aggressive and punches hard. I thought he beat Conlan in the final, even dropping him in the Final round.

All three have good futures and they are all worth keeping an eye on.
Vladimir Nikitin is another good fighter in that weight class and holds a win over Conlan. Kairat Yeraliyev is also pretty good.

We can only hope all of them turn pro. I would like to see all of them in the pro ranks, but it's up to them to make the jump. I wouldn't be surprised if they go pro after the Olympics.
