Blatant corruption like that between a promoter and a sanctioning body should be pointed out and not accepted. We have enough ****ed up things happening with the alphabet orgs as it is.

    *****.
    Isn't he WBO number 1?

But I'm sure you're ok with them letting Mayweather hang onto those JMW belts until the end of eternity or giving Deontay Wilder 7 years to prepare for his Povetkin mandatory.

Mayweather-Pacquaio happened. It was ****. Move on and try being a boxing fan again.

What does Mayweather have to do with this thread?

The point is that alphabet groups need to have well defined rules and stick to them consistently regardless of who the champ is, who is ranked #1, and who the promoters are. End of story.

I have a lot of respect for Ramirez, but this has Arum written all over it.

This is a fantasy. The ABC groups exist to manipulate rankings just by coexisting. Even if we went back to a single organization the rankings would still be abused because of the sheer amount of talent than can exist at one time in a single division.

Fighters don't fight often enough to keep the rankings in proper order either.

On one hand I think they're good because it gives a fighter exposure, marketability, and better purses but on other hand it's horrible for the fans and low tier managers/promoters because of the politics.

The WBA potentially has 3 damn champions in every division............

I'm just happy Abraham might actually lose the title in one of these defences so we can get it out of Germany but people are crying because a Top Rank fighter might win it

It's fantasy because we as fans partially allow it to happen by never speaking out.

The WBA is horrendous with their super/regular/interim champs, the WBC never met a Mexican fighter they didn't think deserved to move up the rankings, and on and on.

Just because that's the way things have always been doesn't mean it's the way they should be, though.

To be frank about it, I don't think there's enough boxing fans to speak out. How are we supposed to speak out? Have everyone tweet to the organizations at the same time? I guess it's possible.

There are probably fans who accept corruption as a norm in the sport, not that I am one of them but I do recognize it is part of the game.
