Evander Holyfield knocked out the man who dethroned Mike Tyson to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, defeated George Foreman and won one of this three memorable bouts against Rid**** Bowe before he fought Tyson in November 1996.

But it wasn’t until Holyfield stopped Tyson in the 11th round of their first fight in Las Vegas that the five-time heavyweight champ felt he got the respect and credit he deserved. I give Holyfield credit for his accomplishments at Cruiser, but although I respect his skill I find it hard to credit a guy who was clearly on steroids throughout his Heavyweight career!

The Balco scandals with Holyfield first dated around 96/96' but if you look at the physical change of the guy from Cruiser to Heavy it's pretty clear it started before 96'

There were alot of fighters who were taking as well as other athletes. So it is kind of hard for you to not credit someone. The Baseball scandal and Lance Armstrong caese kind of opened this up. How do you know Tyson wasn't taking some kind of PED. ?

Tyson up until he went to jail was the same size roughly as he was since a teen and just prior to the Douglas fight he didn't train as hard as he used to. He wouldn't even need the PEDs so I think it's safe to say he wasn't on them. Usually you get better not worse and Tyson was on a steady decline. There were drugs in his system but I don't think PEDS were on the list

Getting paid 20 mil to fight Douglas in the early 90's over respect any day Holyfield, Shame that you have spent most of it. Living legend (Was a dirty fight, people seem to forget)

Completely agree with Pitbull, at 14 Tyson was roughly the same physique that he was in his prime. He was just a kid with insane genetics! Now we know that he indulged in ******* while on the decline but that's not a PED, it's the opposite.

You are right, there probably was a huge number of our favourite fighters that were on some sort of PED, but until a guy is indicted or fails a test then we have to give them the benefit of the doubt!

But we're talking about a guy who fought in his physical prime at Cruiserweight and had an athletic slender build, then moved up to Heavyweight in what people consider the athletic decline of his career and completely changed his physical build to something akin to a bodybuilder! People thought something was fishy before the Balco issue!

Combine these issues with the fact Evander was a blatantly dirty fighter I'm surprised he's praised as much as he is, I think he's fortunate to get the credit he does!

Cmon Evander; You Got More Than Props

Keep in mind, he had wars win Rid**** Bowe he didn't win every fight to. Smokin Bert Cooper had Evander out cold had the ropes not held Evander up; Bert Cooper of all people would have been Heavyweight Champion of the World that night! You defeated Tyson twice and those and you win over Bowe were clearly your greatest moments. You had great moments/wars at Light Heavyweight, you were Olympic Gold Medalist. You stuck around too long to get beat up by Toney and Moorer, but there is no dis*****g Evander Holyfield is an all time great.
