Comments Thread For: Lomachenko-Koasicha: Byrd to Ref, Judges Also Picked

Robert Byrd has been selected to be the referee for the featherweight title fight between Vasyl Lomachenko and Romulo Koasicha.

Byrd was approved at Thursday’s meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission. Lomachenko-Koasicha will take place on the Nov. 7 undercard to Timothy Bradley vs. Brandon Rios at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

note to editor - it makes sense to give us ref/judging appointments for the big meaningful fights - less so for a fight like this which will probably see a Loma stoppage

I'm a fan of Lom and I realize that most guys with 4 pro fights probably don't fight guys with Koasicha's number of fights but since Lom leap-frogged to the point he is at, he should be fighting a better opponent.

Agree with you was really hoping for at least a top 10-15 guy as I believe he beats everyone in the division maybe Walters fight will be a 50-50 but it looks like he's next fight is at 130

I've never watched a ref smile like he did in the 1st Loma fight. It's not often they must get to see something genuinely new and Byrd was impressed.

I'm willing to bet that Byrd requested this one!

Man this division has the potential to be one of the best in boxing but it's like everything has ground to a ****ing halt this year. Disappointing.
