Makes it a little hard to believe Spence would've really fought Thurman if he's still fighting novice no-hopers.

This is a clear step backwards. Barrera isn't even on the sanctioning body rankings. Spence should be fighting Guerrero, Gomez, or Martinez.

These elite guys like Spence should never sign with Haymon. Haymon has no idea how to build a star. Spence is good enough to be a world champion right now who can sell some tickets and have some decent recognition.

Instead he is fighting on the undercard of a freaking charlo (who has zero star potential) against an unknown fighter.

Above average fighters would be smart to sign with Haymon...good guaranteed pay days, tv slots, some easy fights etc...but elite talents should stay far away from him.

Fair enough, Khan was a teenage olympian but still, Spence is being moved along way too slow. 18 or s opro fights and not even a washed up, top level pro?

I agree to a degree. I would like to see him with someone we know has the knowledge, but maybe not the athleticism at this point, but maybe circumstance is more into play than "ducking/protecting". What fighter would you say is a good match at this point? I think Collazo or even Berto would be good. Ortiz seems like a bit of a fitness freak, but if Spence at this point beat him dominantly, I think it would say a lot.

18 fights in, associated with the best fighter of the prevoius generation, amking good money and fighting on national tv. Mikey Garcia is an elite at his weight and can't get a fight he wants. Crawford would have never blown up if Prescotts opposition didn't get hurt. Arum himself said he didn't know how to market to an "urban" crowd with mayweather. Lomachenko called up Bob to get signed, and demanded the fights he wanted so its not like he was built either.

Canelo has done nothing great at GB and his star building was under Shaeffer. Please tell me who could do a better job?
