Warning: Maybe this is the dumbest thread ever but at least its something different.
Imagine some sports science company developed a robot the same size and speed as lets say, Manny Pacquaio. The robot punches with similar power, is a southpaw, etc. Basically a replica (maybe it can even be controlled by a trainer with a remote control). How much money would an opponent and his promoter (especially a wealthy one like Floyd Mayweather) pay for this to be used in training. I would think if the robot is made well, this would be a very valuable asset for training camp.
How far off is technology from achieving this? I imagine it can be done, but would carry a 7 figure price tag. Also, it would be better if there was a computer system that tracked data, tendencies, speed, power, etc where you can change how the robot operates depending on what opponent you are facing next...(think floyd opening a screen and changing the opponent from Pacquaio to Berto for his next training camp).
With sports science, analytics, tendency tracking that is going in other other sports, there will be a day when boxing catches up. Or is the just not enough money and or smart people in boxing for anything like this to occur?
