  • Was Chico okay vs Mayweather?

That night I swear if someone had so much as sneezed in Corrales's direction he would have fell over, he looked just as fragile as Khan does in every outing probably even more so.

Excellent performance by Floyd none the less.

    Thoughts?

If I recall correctly, I think he had his domestic abuse case and went to jail shortly thereafter, so I don't know how he could have been at his best. However, just as you said, a full credit goes to Floyd, even at his best Corrales isn't competitive against that man on that night. He was completely out of his league.

Hey, who knows what state of mind he was in that night...

Its clear that even on his best day, Floyd still wipes the floor with him. Im not sure, but I think he knew it going into the fight.

And I dont wanna hear excuses about his upcoming bid, cause when Floyd faced Cotto no one made excuses for him before or after the fight.

I think it's pretty well documented that he struggled to make the weight.

It was his first real challenge and he was exposed. I love Chico but he's extremely overrated because he fought Floyd and that classic fight with Castillo which he should have lost if the ref had a backbone. After that Floyd fight he only beat scrubs aside from Castillo, and not only lost to, but got beat up when he stepped up in competition.

I remember Ariza and Corrales bragging about how the weight wouldn't be an issue then he showed up 2lbs. over at the weigh-in. But as Larry Merchant said, wouldn't have mattered if the limit was 140lbs.

It was a process, a very successful one at that and Mayweather took everything out of him before unloading. Those jabs to the body took it out of Corrales, just think about that for a second, Corrales got dropped trying to pick off jabs to the body and Mayweather had Corrales picking wrong all the time.

Not to take anything away from Flody, in fact you can't take anything from floyd that's boxing. But I remember Chico having a peanut butter & Jelly sandwhich right before the fight. Larry Merchant & Harold Lettermann mentioned about how bizzare it was that Chico was seen eaten a peanutbutter & jelly sandwhich prior to the fight. He was clearly weak prior to the fight & HBO knew about his conditions. I feel Floyd would've beaten him anyway but in a bit more competitive fight. But as a former fighter...Really that's Chico 's problem for not losing weight in an appropiate manner, matter of fact strategicly dieting & conditioning is part of the fight. If done well could help you win the fight.
