Comments Thread For: Brook: Pacquiao, Thurman, Garcia Are in My Sights Now

    By Edward Chaykovsky

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs) is motivated to do a real job on Diego Chaves when they step in the ring later this year. The fight was scheduled for this past Saturday, but Brook picked up a rib injury in camp and withdrew from the bout a week ago.

The opponent initially pursued was former champion Brandon Rios. The two sides were unable to reach an agreement on several of the terms, leading to Rios' withdrawal from the discussions and then Brook decided on Chaves.

During a recent interview, Rios verbally assaulted Brook. He said the Sheffield fighter would get battered by just about every top boxer in the welterweight division.

Brook brushed off those comments and said Rios was confused as to the facts of the matter.

He feels confident that his in-ring performance, when he finally faces Chaves, will skyrocket his worth in the welterweight division.

"I believe when I am at 100 per cent, there is no one who can touch me," he said. "Manny Pacquiao, [Danny] Garcia, [Keith] Thurman, [Shawn] Porter, [Timothy] Bradley - all of them are in my sights now. All the elite-level fighters with the massive names and who are great fighters themselves.

"It's just pushing it all back, which is frustrating. As for Rios, he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about."

Brook's injury was sustained during a sparring session with the hard-hitting Russian David Avanesyen last week, raising fears about a possible broken rib.

He and trainer Dominic Ingle went straight to hospital for a scan but with no break, he has already had treatment on the damaged area.

Brook admits he is always "big at the weight" but made it clear that there were no other reasons for pushing back the showdown with Chaves.

"My weight is not a problem," he said. "The fact is, every time I fight I make the weight. People say I am scared, or this is a weight problem, but I have been training for ever. My weight was **** on. I was on all the targets in the gym, so it is a genuine injury.

After Chaves, Bradley can get some brownie in the spring.

Then hopefully Khan will grow a pair of balls and take his beating like a man in front of 80 thousand at Wembley.

I would rather wait and see who he fights next, the problem with him is the promoter wants to protect his investment. Which makes Brook looks bad to the boxing public.

Talking about Khan and man in the same sentence doesn't sound right .I hope the fight Brook takes for the summer is Thurman and I hope Khan retires , if not he fights another light welterweight coming off a lost and struggles like hell again but then gives all the top guys more ultimatums it's great to hear a kid in the prime of ******ity and delusion.
Brook needs to move on with his own serious agenda and forget glass jaw, yes everyone wanted to see Brook smash the prat but there are much better fights and fighters out there for Kell .

Every guy at 140-147 wants the Pacquiao fight, but hopefully Brook is serious about Thurman and Garcia.

I think he outboxes Garcia, but Thurman would beat him.
