Victor Ortiz vs Chris Algerie in December?

I like this match up for both fighters. Algerie is coming off two consecutive losses. Ortiz is always in shape and I think he can go a ten rounder against Algerie and he doesn't need a tune up for this. A win for Algerie against a former champ is a solid win and a win for Ortiz puts his name back in the mix. Both have TBA fights in early December.

I don't have a problem with that fight, but not for December. I think a loss for either of those guys would be devastating, so I think they both would like to enter their next fight as significant favourites. After that, however, sure I think it's an excellent fight and I'd favour Algieri.

This would be a nice undercard fight for the Barclays card for sure. I suspect its unlikely we get either guy fighting a competitive type fight in December doe. Hope I'm wrong.

At this point, after losing to Lopez and Collazo back to back, it's tough to pick Ortiz vs anyone other than unknown journeymen. I am forced to pick Algieri just because Algieri has shown more toughness in his fights against Prov, Pacquiao, and Khan than Ortiz has shown since like the Berto and Peterson fights. Algieri by decision.
