A little light-hearted relief:
A boxer named Robin Deakin {boxrec} with an outstanding record of 2 wins, 51 losses and 0 draws won his second fight this year after 51 failed attempts.
Curiously, the only other fight he won was back in 2006, in his professional debut, his very first pro bout. Since then he fought 52 times and lost every single time apart from his last fight! For Deakin, it turned out to be 52nd time lucky with the vast majority of his fights being 4 rounders.
Now 29 years old, Deakin is reported to have said some years ago that as soon as he'd win his second fight, he would immediately retire from the sport putting a poetic twist on his record having only ever won on his professional debut and his retirement fight, across 53 fights and over a highly active 9 year span.
After 53 fights, with only his second victory in the bag, should Deakin hang them up or should he keep fighting?
Prince Patel has an amusing dig at Deakin here :
