I think "the winner" will be Canelo (who I think is too big and too young for Cotto.)

I do think GGG will indeed fight Canelo. In essence, and you should've noticed this if you didn't: They've already begun having a public negotiation.

This began with GGG recently announcing his intention to fight the winner at 160, and not some other weight.

This continued with Canelo's throwing out 155.

They will meet at 157, 158.

Canelo will NOT want to vacate the MW belt just because he prissily demanded 155, when everyone knows he's Golovkin-sized.

And, on the other side, GGG will want a fight against Canelo to become a bigger star and jump start his resume.

So, I don't see anybody ducking just yet. I see a fight in the making.

POOR lil g fans, try to convince there self's that the dude is an Ray Robison type of fighter when he just fights smaller fighters or bums, I admit that Cotto should move down and let this lil g fight for peanuts and duck Ward for his whole life... HAHA

I agree, but Cotto should be right in that fight.....

Look, you could be right Joe, but all I have heard from Team Golovkin so far are refusals and roadblocks..... this sounds eerily like the Ward fiasco.

It doesn't sound positive at all.

        Not sure about that ?

I have no interest whatsoever from Canelo.

Canelo said this..... " I have no interest in middleweight ".

I think he will drop the belt.

I think that Golovkins only chance may be for Cotto to beat Canelo.

I agree with that, but Team Golovkin do not sound positive at all.

It sounds like they just want the belt, and will wait for the winner to be stripped.

        I hope you're right

        Good call.

Canelo/Cotto winner takes voluntary and then demands lightest possible catchweight against GGG

GGG declines, and winner of Canelo/Cotto voluntarily gives up belt.

Then GGG and Canelo/Cotto can negotiate a CW fight with no belt on the line, if they want.

The only way a belt would not be on the line for GGG is if the fight took place at a weight that is not with in the middleweight limits. So if the belt is stripped or vacated, GGG gets elevated to full champion, if he then fights Cotto/Canelo at a catchweight of 155-157 his belts will still be on the line. The sanctioning body decides whether or not a belt is on the line, not the fighter, and if the weight is with in the division limits then you can be damn sure the sanctioning body will be collecting they're fees.

So this is a demonstration of the ******ity of GGG's team, and the lack of knowledge of boxings current fan base.

              From WBC rules:

Non-Title Bouts. A WBC Champion must always defend the WBC title if he boxes in the
same weight division as his championship. A WBC Champion may not engage in any title
or non-title bout in his weight division, or a title or non-title bout in any other weight
division, without requesting and receiving written permission for and/or a written sanction
of the bout from the WBC as a WBC “Special Event”
