Cache Creek Casino and Resort, Brooks, California - Super bantamweight contender Manuel Avila (19-0, 8KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over veteran Angel Beranza (36-34-2, 28KOs). The scores were 80-72, 79-73 and 78-74.
Avila was coming off a high profile win over Yoandris Salinas in August. Avila dropped him in the second round of that bout and then Salinas called it a day a few rounds later, claiming a hand injury and giving Avila a sixth round TKO win.
