Pacquiao announced he is retiring, will his final fight do more PPVs than Mayweather?

Mayweather announced his final fight against Andre Berto and the weeks leading up to the fight he said he was retiring for good, it was his final fight. Nobody knows the real numbers, its anywhere from 200k to 500k, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle so im guessing 350-450k buys?

Manny Pacquiao just announced his retirement, he told Arum he will retire after April 9th, his last PPV will be in Las Vegas, either against Crawford, Khan, or Bradley or whoever else not mentioned.

Will his last PPV do better than Mayweather vs. Berto?

Me personally I think it does lower or around the same, Ill say it could be just a bit above Triple G's 150k, maybe 250k buys?

I think the Biggest PPV right now will be Canelo vs. Cotto, thats a given its Mexico vs. Puerto Rico. Cotto has good ppv numbers as well, and Canelo has a mexican fan base, that fight is going to do at least 1 million buys.

If it's against Crawford it would do similar (400k). There are no good b-side fighters at 140-147 for Pacquiao. I think Pacquiao would have to do the unthinkable and actually fight either Cotto-Canelo winner at 155. I really can't think of another fighter from 140-154 that Pacquiao can fight and do similar #'s as Mayweather vs Berto or better (389k according to Glaser).

Only if he fights marquez or Maidana...

Those are the only fights that could do numbers above 500k

Probably. I think he'll fight Khan and he can draw some fighters.

A 5th Marquez fight would be the only possible big seller, l don't even think a Khan fight brings in much.

Lol well yeah I forgot about them, they have both been so inactive. But you are right, Pacquiao vs Maidana or Marquez would draw some good amount of buys.

Mayweather went out soft. Vs probably the least competitive opponent by fans expectations since Carlos Baldomir almost a decade ago & he got numbers that go with that story. My assumption would be Manny will try to go out bigger, but the reality is 2 of his last 4 opponents were considered soft too & he got the numbers to go along with those stories too. So its all about who gets chosen for Manny's last dance. I suspect none of the guys I've heard mentioned lately (namely Crawford & Lucas) could pull better numbers than Floyd's 550k vs Berto.

Yep. If someone would explain to Marquez that he'd get paid 3-4 times for his 5th fight with Pac than he would fighting anyone else, I think this would be really big.

Otherwise, if its Crawford or Kahn, it'll do probably a bit less. If it's Bradley, it probably does a lot less.

It still wouldn't shock me to see May-Pac 2 next year
