Comments Thread For: Bob Arum Pleased With Rejuvenated Andy Ruiz Jr.

Bob Arum was in a jovial mood in discussing this weekend’s fight card at CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Headlining the show, local hero and reigning Fighter of the Year Terence Crawford defends his super lightweight crown versus Dierry Jean in the lone bout of the night that will air live on HBO (Saturday, 9:30 p.m. ET).

Among those appearing on the undercard include heavyweight prospect Andy Ruiz Jr. The unbeaten boxer from Mexicali faces Raphael Zumbrano Love in a scheduled eight-round bout, his second fight in four weeks following a forced nine-month hiatus from sport.

Right, so he has gone from morbidly obese to seriously fat as if that helps. Based on his height and lack of bone size, an in shape Ruiz is a 175 pound fighter.

I saw Andy cut, in good shape one time. I know there's a healthy man in there. He wasn't Wilder cut, but he looked serious. Forget Arum, Andy needs to look the part.

Ruiz clearly pulled a James Toney and did a water cut for the weigh in.

He probably weighed closer to 265 for the fight. It showed in his stamina late in the fight against the professional survivor.

Ruiz looked as portly as ever during the fight but looked reasonable for the weigh in. His weight loss is for marketing reasons, if his camp could get him serious about his weight he wouldn't weigh above 225.

Seems to be losing his power with the weight loss.
