Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Eubank Will Never Be Like His Father

In the last few weeks, middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14KOs) - and his famous father who carries the same name, Chris 'English' Eubank - have been aggressively discussing the possibility of a fight with WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

English has a problem; he talks, and his son can't back it up.

Chris jr. is without doubt a exciting prospect but talk right now re -Golovkin seems premature , losing to Saunders was a set back and although he came on strong he still lost.
S o really the jury are still out, I look forward to seeing him in with Spike in December and of course Adam brings more excitement .....should be a fun ride!

I think Jr can be a very good fighter and ultimately he can be better than Saunders but he jumped up to Saunders too fast, but still did well. That fight should have happened another 18 months down the line.

I honestly believe he will get in the ring with anybody at anytime, and his father has this obsession about a "warrior code" - and doesn't see a loss as bad. That's all a great attitude to have but you have to draw the line somewhere and move along your career sensibly and take the right fights while learning to walk before you can run, no matter how fearless you are. Once you've proven you're a very good fighter, then start taking everyone on, because so many don't.

There's a lot to like about Eubank Jr. i think, and i think now he has a proper promoter in Hearn and working with Adam Booth, there might be some sort of stability to his career and he has everything to place to show if he's a top fighter, or not. I think he can be.

He's a tremendous athlete like Anthony Mundine was, but he'll develop better due to better sparring exposure and a better trainer in Booth. Chudinov, Jeter, O'Sullivan are good starts. He was very competitive with a much more experienced Saunders in the second half of their fight. He'll should be able to feast on other PBC fighters like Caleb Truax, Ishe Smith, J'Leon Love.

Two years from now Eubank/Golovkin could be a potential Wembly Stadium fight if Eubank gets revenge vs Saunders and starts destroying the other MW contenders. It also be important for Golovkin to fight in the UK a couple times like against the winner of Lee/Saunders. Only problem is may move up to SMW.

Abel Sanchez is just scared and protecting his prize pupil. He knows Eubank is coming for gennadys soul.
