  • List of every American TV PPV?

Anyone know where I can find a list of all of the PPV's from over the past 40 years or so. HBO, Showtime, and other various outlets for PPVs like Direct TV and so forth.

Someone posted a google doc with one of the more complete lists I've seen in one of the GGG PPV results threads from the last day or so. I recall the Cotto vs Malignaggi PPV fight that only did 90k buys was one of the fights mentioned in the threads initial post if you wanna search it out (idr the title or I'd link you). I've been casually compiling a US PPV list myself (haven't been able to find a complete list) & it had most of the ones I had (missed a few here & there) & many lesser performing PPV's that I didn't. Covered most everything from the first PPV (Ali vs Frazier III) to the 2013 Bradley-Marquez fight iirc.

Here's a link to the source I was talking out. Another person was asking me about it to so figured I'd just pull it up again.

Its really the opponent that helps bring that big number.

I thought most big fights of that era landed on closed-circuit, not sure if PPV was a thing back then yet.

Yea. I wasn't alive back than, but thats universally considered the first PPV. It was probably some freakish **** like watching videos online when Youtube first came out I think doe. I believe I've seen numbers where it was only available to 3M PPV ready customers so GGG mighta did better numbers than it did.

Yea that was the thing at the time if you couldn't be at the event. PPV was just the new thing on the scene.

It was probably not unlike legit buying & streaming PPV's online like the UFC is doing fairly recently I believe & iirc like Mayweather did for the first time last time out. I'm sure the people who purchased online are a tiny minority of the people that are buying those PPV's, but that technology probably isn't quite there yet like PPV wasn't back in the day I imagine & in the meantime it just adds options that can add people into the overall $ being made. I'm assuming it also cuts out the cable companies who take 45-50% of the revenue too so its probably great for the bottom line.
