  • Comments Thread For: Frankie Gomez Banks Lopsided Decision Over Jorge Silva

Frankie Gomez shut out Jorge Silva over the course of 10 rounds, winning in his first appearance in the ring in nearly 15 months.

Gomez, a 23-year-old prospect, was supposed to have fought this past May in a prime spot on the HBO undercard to the Canelo Alvarez vs. James Kirkland broadcast, a show that also included the re-airing of Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.

But while an impressive average audience of more than 2.1 million people tuned in that night, none of them got to see Gomez take on Humberto Soto. That’s because Gomez, after having the weight limit pushed back from 141 pounds to 145, still came in at 147.5. The fight got called off.

    Back In The Ring

Glad Frankie got back in the ring and got the W
Didn't like how he looked physically. Reminded me of how Oscar de la Hoya looked when he first became a Middleweight. Not Good
But he looked sharp for the most part. Got in 10 rounds of much needed action after a year lay off. Stamina you can tell was way off
NEEDS TO GET BACK IN THE GYM ASAP.
Hopefully he fights in December on the Ortiz undercard or Headline one of the Ring TV cards.

What an absolutely mediocre fighter. Slow, cant punch his way out of a wet paper bag, and has the special effects of a dead horse. Busted up and swollen by a sub par club fighter with 9 losses. Nothing to see here folks.

Had high hopes for Gomez a few years ago but he doesn't have discipline. Had an opportunity to appear on HBO May reshow and blew it, and 150 lbs here is atrocious.
