Comments Thread For: Crawford Wants To Fight Pacquiao, Not Sure It’s Mutual

Assuming all goes well against Dierry Jean on Saturday night, Terence Crawford definitely wants to fight Manny Pacquiao next.

“It’d mean a lot,” Crawford told BoxingScene.com. “It’d take my career to the next level.”

The 28-year-old Crawford still isn’t sure Pacquiao will want to fight him next spring, when the Filipino superstar is expected to return to the ring following a loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 in Las Vegas and subsequent shoulder surgery.

If he takes that for his last fight nothing but props, it would be like passing of the torch If Crawford treats his career right unlike Ward that's one thing you don't want to become.

Crawford is talented and can be entertaining in the ring. It would make sense for Arum to put him in with Pacquiao to transcend him.

And lets say he did beat Pacquiao which is another question altogether, does he really have an appeal to the casual fans to remain in the spotlight? From what i've seen he doesn't seem to have much of a selling point or personality or big name potential rival to keep the momentum.

Its,going to be bradley, bradley and pac did 800k and 700k respectively, and both fights were comptetitive. Thats if bradley gets passed rios, plus the marketing ooint will be teddy atlas vs freddie roach macting wits. If bradley beats rios im sold on the atlas bradley tandem. A fight with crawford will not draw, it only benifits arum and crawford, this pacs last fight so i have a feeling arum will try and convince pacman to fight crawford, arum needs to transfer the power to crawford and only way to do that is for crawford to destroy pacman, and arum will say crawford outdid mayweather and is more exciting and fan friendly that floyd couldnt even hurt pac and ran and n held all night while crawford destroyed him, thats what arums pitch will be after crawford wins over old faded pacman.

Crawford is bland, he really has no personality at all he isnt much of a talker and could be a hard sell. Bradley could have been a draw but the backlash from the gift decision ruined him, if bradley beat pac more convincingly like how he beat marquez he would have had drawing appeal because he is well spoken and family friendly, he loves talking.

ArScum needs to stop fighting death immediately and just put on as much sun screen as he can because where he's going i hear the temperatures are pretty solid.

Agree. Crawford makes Andre Ward seem like Angel Garcia. I'm not even THAT impressed with his skills. I thought Gamboa had some moments in their fight & thats the best thing Crawford has done probably & Gamboa hadn't fought in forever & that isn't a great weight for him. Crawford will never sell 500k+ PPV's as the A side even if he were to fight & beat Manny.

Bradley could have been a draw but the backlash from the gift decision ruined him, if bradley beat pac more convincingly like how he beat marquez he would have had drawing appeal because he is well spoken and family friendly, he loves talking.
That decision hurt him no question. I think the fact that he can't stop guys hurt worse in this regard. He'd be like a 147lb Holyfield if he could KO guys. I contend people wanna see exciting fighters who can stop guys if all else is equal. And Tim had a persona that people dig & a style hardcore boxing fans & casual fans alike flock to. Not being able to KO a lady in a wheelchair is a problem doe (would be a ref stoppage at best). Need a sexy KO to wins numbers ratio on your record.
