  • Comments Thread For: Estrada: Roman Gonzalez Not The Big Deal Being Hyped

WBA/WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco 'Gallo' Estrada (33-2, 24KOs) is not a believer in the pound-for-pound hype being pushed on WBC champion Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez (44-0, 38KOs).

Gonzalez returned last Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where he stopped Brian Viloria in nine rounds. Estrada defeated Viloria by split decision in early 2013, but says the Filipino boxer is no longer the same fighter that he once was.

Seems like nobody does their homework here. I've seen a lot of articles when they mention that "after the fight with Gonzalez" Estrada moved up in weight. Totally wrong. Estrada made his profesional debut at 112lbs in 2008. He used to fight at the 112-115 range, and he even has some fights at 118. He won "Campeon Azteca" at 113lbs in 2011. He only fought 1 time at 108, and that was for his 1st world title challenge against Roman Gonzalez. Not to take anything away from Gonzalez, but he says he was ill and not that well prepared, but Estrada was drained. For guys in lower weight classes, to shed 4 extra pounds takes its toll.

After that fight, Estrada went back to 112 and has looked sensational ever since.

Actually the article says he struggled at the weight limit of junior flyweight and went to 112 after the fight, which is different than what you are claiming. It never says he had never fought at 112 in the past or that he was making his debut at 112.

Well when certain fighters are doing great and beating top tier opposition in Estradas case in tends to make fighters who have defeated them look that much better.

NSB fanboys just hate when their favorite fighters arent getn the love. Flojos having a tough time letn Floyd go and refuse to call any other fighter p4p#1, Pactrrds just love to hate in general. #1 is and always will be hated on.

Estrada will defeat Gonzalez in the rematch.

Gobzalez has like 2 years ducking Estrada.

Estrada was drained and green. Is like see Golovkin in 156 pounds.

Both Estrada and Roman have improved so i disagree with Estrada. Chocolatito by KO in a rematch!
