It really doesn't matter that's why it's funny to see NSB go full ****** acting like Golovkin vs Lemieux is like a Mawyeather or Pacquiao situation here. I gues years of argueing over PPV's makes people now think this is super important (on NSB PPV buys are more important than the actual fights themselves sadly).
They made the PPV so they could the Lemieux fight. K2, Golden Boy, GGG & Lemieux aren't hurting because of low PPV numbers. The purses have been paid, which weren't all that high anyway ($2m for GGG and $1.5m for Lemieux) and there wasn't some massive promotion behind this fight. Basically both sides got what they wanted.Comment

100k x 50 = 5 mil, 50% to cable providers = 2.5 mil. HBO takes their split and the undercard fighters need to be paid. So no live gate huh? Absolutely no money generated from the sold out MSG?. All they have to do is break even and if K2 and Golden Boy take a loss does it even matter in the grand scheme of things?
The main point from K2s perspective was getting a title and a decent opponent. If Lemieux walked they would have been forced to fight another Willie Monroe type of fight which wouldn't have been acceptable at this point.Comment

That may have been a flop compared to what people were expecting bit i really dont think it was that bad.
GGG pretty much carried that PPV. He was fighting a guy who doesnt bring much in the way of fans, name value or ability to win the fight. His undercard was a (great) flyweight fight and a couple randoms (by casuals standards). That looks more like a regular HBO show to me.
Is nearly 100,000 buys in those circumstances that bad?Comment

The actual fight ******. The only notable thing about it is was that people were asked to pay $60 for an obvious mismatch. What else is there to discuss?
I'd get your point if we had a great fight that was worth discussing, but we didn't.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 10-22-2015, 07:56 PM.Comment
