You have to bend to others demands to become great

Mayweather-went to 154 and used Oscars gloves of choice

Manny-jumped 2 divisions to fight Oscar

GGG-will have to agree to either 155 for Cotto or Canelo or 168 for Ward

simple as that, you have to bend one way or another if you want the prize of BEING THE FACE OF BOXING..He can not have it all his way,now he has a great opportunity to become great, but he has to make a choice and stop saying what he won't do.

Tyson was a heavyweight and American

Oscar was a Gold medalist and American

GGG is going to have to do what he has to do to snatch the throne

We're all jumping the gun assuming he won't budge. When the time comes, I'm pretty sure he will choose to fight at 155 if it's worth it financially. If he doesn't, he just wallows in mediocre opponents the rest of his career and never becomes a superstar.

Plus, if the fight doesn't pop off till late next year, Canelo probably won't be making 155 anymore.

Its all posturing right now. I believe Golovkin will gladly fight at catch weight but maybe not 155. I can see 157 or 158.

As far as Canelo, I don't understand why he seems to love killing himself to make weight. He would probably be stronger and healthier weighing in at 160.

If Cotto (or Canelo) were not the lineal Champions in their division, I could agree with what you're saying. However one of them will hold the spot as the number 1 middleweight in the world. Unless they're prepared to move out of the way, they should fight at the full welterweight limit.

I agree with what you're saying on Ward though. If he can't secure a fight with Cotto or Canelo, moving up to fight Ward should be his next move if he's serious about about becoming the best thing boxing has to offer.

If GGG goes to 155 and beats Canelo, he will get more credit than if it was at 160 because of the physical difficulties he had to overcome to win.

IT isn't FAIR that stars can control weight like this, but those that accept the b-side stipulations and the short purse and win, especially a guy with the charisma of a GGG, are always rewarded for overcoming the stacked deck.

              .

The only one that seems to bend is Porter (went down to 144 for Broner). Broner isn't a great legacy fight but its a mainstream name that helped get Porter some notoriety.

Rigo doesn't want to move up. Ward is taking baby steps in moving up. GGG only wants to move up for easy money, Canelo created his own weight class to avoid moving up, Lomachenko refused to fight Walters, etc.

Managers and promoters are just getting better at managing risk and that's preventing fighters today from chasing greatness.

Cotto/ Canelo only will have one belt.

                  Golovkin is the unified champion.

If they're real men, step up.

I'd agree if Cotto and Canelo weren't in a MIDDLEWEIGHT title fight.

If they were LMW and wanted to meet halfway then fair enough but Canelo and Cotto fight within the Middleweight division (155-160) so they need to accept they are middleweights and take on guys at the limit, or move back down. Catchweights between guys all in the same division makes a mockery of the belt, the sport, the divisions and history.

If they went back to 154 and said they have no interest in fighting a 160 guy then cool, no problem but both have been fighting consistently within the middleweight division for the past couple of years.
