First of all it needs a commission that is universally recognized in the USA. One entity that controls all matters... It needs stringent drug testing by a TRUSTED source inside said commission.
It needs new judges and scoring system. There are way too many scoring discrepancies in fights. How is it possible for one judge to score a fight 117-111 for one guy and another sitting around the same ring to score it 115-113 for the other fighter? Something needs to change.. I say have 5 judges sitting ringside above the action with a better view and figure a way to use the 5 scores somehow.
All these wonky titles need to go..how can you have 3 guys hold a title from the same organization in one damn division? Are we watching a little league game where they all get a trophy at the end? Stop with all the gold,silver,super, and whatever other names they use to sell me that a guy is a champ when he shouldn't be.
The promoters need to figure a way to make fights happen..it's like the old days of baseball when the American and National league would never play until the World Series, except we get the World Series like every 2-3 years if we are lucky when a big cross promotion fight happens..
Exclusive network deals: my god, these are just as bad, I know financially it makes sense for a guy like GGG or Kovavlev to sign and be promoted by HBO and make that money but now they can't fight anyone from the PBC and vice versa. Stevenson vs Kovavlev is a fight we should have seen once or maybe twice by now but will never end up seeing it at all.
Catch weights: enough already.. If you have a title at a weight you shouldn't be making someone in that weight come down lower. And if you own titles in a weight you shouldn't be fighting above that weight against others in the damn weight class.. If you can't make weight, move up and give up your belts. Give someone else who can make weight a chance to fight for a championship.
Catch weights are fine if it's 2 guys from different divisions meeting in the middle. How many times has a guy came down to a lower weight and been pummeled and everyone says he was drained. Meet in the middle and have a fair fight.
