I think Manny did fine @ self promotion. Guy is in the news for his own **** all time (political ****, Filipino NBA ****, random good guy ****, random movies/tv show ****). He got by on his own unique style, charm & good guy-ness with media **** (Kimmell show perhaps most notably) all the time. The time he was dogging gay people over w/e cuz of his bible stuff didn't even go that south on him cuz he's got such a positive overall image.

I think he was able to get where he got partial cuz of his hustlability with media, but his focus just was more on boxing than selling. When he was selling donuts on the street he was trying to hustle & stand out so people would buy his probably ****ty ass donuts. When he become the biggest Asian boxer in the boxing history he already stood out quite a bit & had a superior product.

I do think there is a solid argument he'd have done better promotion-wise/money-wise if he had parted ways with TR when Oscar had him signed for a minute, like every big Arum guy did better eventually w/o Arum, but its not like one could argue he failed & get very far with that stance.

manny's stardom is largely based on his action packed fighting style

Let's pretend we're in a completely different universe where god loves manny enough to give him Ali or Floyd's fighting style.

Would pacquioa's personality be able to carry those more somber scientific styles into super stardom?

Well outside of Ali & Floyd most everyone is dependent on their style for super stardom, mainstream appeal in boxing. So this is like saying how many medals does Usain Bolt have if he only had one foot.

If Manny fought like Floyd he's a more successful & likable Mickey Bey & if Floyd fought like Manny he's a more successful & talkative Ebo Elder. Changing styles changings everything.
